Materialistic love
Our culture is fixated on materials. Experiences are becoming more popular, but the shift is slow. What if we hand-selected every item we owned? What if we loved and cared for each item? If we respected our things, we would respect ourselves.
Think about it. Clothes we buy from local merchants, people we know, trust and admire, get more attention. We’re more in tune with our actions while wearing, cleaning, folding and storing them. We feel amazing every time we put them on, they’re like a suit of armor, we become the character we’ve always wanted to play. What if our closets were filled with these clothes, our homes filled with these goods, our refrigerators filled with these vegetables? How would our lives differ?
It’s not about filling our homes to the brim. Once we love our things, we don’t need anything else. The desire to buy subsides, because we’re already satisfied. When our material craving diminishes, desire for a higher quality of life increases. We seek exploration, creativity, connection and movement. That’s what Novel is about, tapping into the things that lie at our cores.
